AdBlue is a harmless 32.5% solution of urea (nitrogen compound) in distilled water, developed for the treatment of exhaust gases. AdBlue is stored in a small tank and injected into the exhaust gases before they pass through the SCR catalyst. This catalyst then splits the gases into harmless water and nitrogen. SCR (selective catalytic reduction) technology significantly reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter, allowing vehicles equipped to meet the requirements of the Euro 5 and Euro 6 regulations.
